February 12th, 2009 The Secret of Search Engine Optimisation

To rank better, keyword-rich, natural links are the key. Write articles with keyword-laden content and link those to another useful article you feel your web visitors would read or find useful. Because honestly, no single content page can ever compete in the wide web market. By providing keywords, links then come naturally. Page rank goes up, and you climb the rank ladder. That is the secret of search engine optimisation Melbourne.

The rule then is to captivate your audience. Stale, overused, substandard contents are a no-no. Aim for fresh , interesting, and uniquely styled contents.

This is actually what “socialized, facebooked, web 2.0 markers” follow. To see the real deal, check Sphinn.

There are so many things to consider and plans to make before you can hit the big score. There is only so much you can do and still some of those are wasted effort. All those search engine copy writing efforts and captivating content you worked sweat and blood on will eventually go to waste. Some may prevail, but unless you have the blueprint, trial and errors are altogether frustrating and time consuming. So in this article, we are helping you mold the right ingredients to make a really good link.

February 12th, 2009 Don’t be Scared to Refinance Your Mortgage!

You see the rates coming down. You hear about the great refinancing deals your friends are getting, but you haven’t taken the leap. This was me 6 months ago. I am writing to say I have overcome my fears and it was WORTH IT!…..

Refinancing your high interest rate mortgage may seem like a task left for the skilled home owner, real estate broker, or financial wizard, but let me say, I am no wizard.

I am a novice homeowner when it comes to the skills to wheel and deal real estate, but I could not resist when i saw the interest rates dropping. I took the leap.

And you know….the leap wasn’t all that bad. The one thing i found when refinancing was that there is a wealth of information on the internet about the whole process. I was able to visit various mortgage sites that give you links to any information you would ever need for refinancing.

The process is NOT as daunting as it may seem from the outside, once you do some digging around and reading. Not to mention there are thousands of people willing just to talk to you and guide you through the process. My fears are overcome.

And I had FEARS. I did not want to look ignorant with all the questions I had, but you know, I found mine were similar questions that people have had for years. As I read through these websites and talked to experts, they helped me realize that I was not alone. All it took was a bit of reading, some time, and a bit of effort. Now I am saving thousands with my new refinanced mortgage. Intead of 6.9% I am now at 5.7, and that is a lot of money over 30 years.

So take the leap….refinance now….join the party and don’t be scared!

February 11th, 2009 Got Web Traffic but Still Low Sales? Ten Ways to Selling Success – Part 2

Part one of this article is available at www.bookcoaching.com/freearticles/article-34.shtml.

Have you put a lot of effort, time, and money into your site and are frustrated with lackluster sales? Are you planning to put a new Web site and don’t know where to start?

If you are like many business professionals out there, you know your subject, you are an expert speaker or coach in your field, and you are even passionate about it. You have great products and services to sell.

But do you translate those into benefit-driven headlines that pull sales? If you have already put your Web site up did you address your purpose? Do you want to inform, communicate, and help? That’s fine, but if you want to sell something, you will drive your potential customers away with such non-effective phrases as “welcome to my site,” Here’s by product ” long paragraphs of your bio on the home page, your book’s introduction, or “subscribe to my ezine.”

You have only 10 seconds to impress your Web visitors. They don’t care about anything except what you can do for them.

Give them a reason to buy.

It’s never too late to refresh your home page and others with “marketing pizzazz.” Your home page deserves time, effort, and money. You will need to edit it several times before landing on just the right phrases. Without these and continuous maintenance, your unguided efforts are wasted.

Instead, write compelling, emotional, benefit-driven copy to inspire people to take out their credit cards to buy your unique, wonderful creations. You can when you apply the following power “Marketing Pizzazz” techniques.

6. Make your layout clear, clean, and consistent. You need to organize each page in the same lay outsuch as left centered, right centered, or centered. If you mix designs, your would-be client or buyer will think you unprofessional. Go to other Web sites and choose a design that resonates with you. Keep every page in the same format.

7. Use color, font changes, and small graphics to spice up your site, but remember to use a lot of white space. Too many large graphics make your site load slowly, and your visitors will leave before seeing how you can help them. Without easy-to-read copy and clear navigation they will also disappear. Remember the “10 second” rule.

If you are like me, and have a content-dense site, it’s OK to include long copy as long as you divide it into bite-size pieces with plenty of headlines. A good idea is to ask your friends and associates to visit your site to report glitches and feedback. What turns them on or off? They often see what the creator is too close to see. Of course, give them a reward for helping you, such as a free report.

8. Put your information in short paragraphs. Visitors love free content, but when they see a long line of print, they get discouraged because they want their information fast, clear, and concise. Make each paragraph only 4-6 lines. Online readers want easy-to- read material they can get the main points from, and they want it faster than light rays.

9. Be consistent with your headlines and body fonts. Do not use all capital letters in your articles or headlines, unless you use a few words for emphasis, such as “FACT,” or “TRUE,” because they are hard to read. Do not use the same font for headlines and titles as you do for the body of information beneath. This mistake makes it hard to distinguish the two.

If you are a non-techie like myself, you can use primarily two fonts:

“Times Roman” for headings, and “Arial” for the body. Notice the no tails in Arial (called sans serif), good for short copy.

In your book, you’ll reverse the above font uses. Use “Times Roman” for the copy and “Arial” for titles and headlines.

10. Use dividers such as ======, or ++++++ when you change topics. These can add variety and help your visitor to see your message more clearly. These are often used on business ezines. Each publisher makes their ezine their own by their personal choices.

Remember your home page must give your visitors a reason to buy. Use these “Marketing Pizzazz” techniques throughout your site. Think right now, what is it I need to act on next to manifest more dollar success on my site?

February 8th, 2009 12 Essential new features of Office 12

The final version of Office 12 is slated for release in mid 2006. Although Microsoft is yet to confirm what the final version of Office 12 will include, the broad areas that have been the focus of change are productivity, handling of business information, managing of documents, and enhanced user friendliness.

1. All programs like Word, Excel, and Power Point have a new look. The new user interface has a ribbon of frequently used commands and operations which will enhance usability instead of drop down menus. 2. The server based capabilities include document rights and work flow management.

3. In the case of the revamped Excel, it will support SQL Server 2005, and have much awaited features like greater spreadsheet capacity, tools for sorting and filtering, as well as extensive data visualization capabilities. The user will be able to access, analyze, and share information securely and easily not just within the system but between databases and enterprise applications.

4. The new system will support sharing of workspaces and exchange of information across corporate boundaries. Incorporating P2P capabilities, the system it all set to take a giant leap forward.

5. One aspect under consideration is “out-of -the-box secure enterprise instant messaging.”

6. Deeper incorporation of XML will make the system a development platform. Developers will be able to create software that interoperates with the system without hitches.

7. Specially designed Contextual Command Tabs. These will only appear when a user is all set to modify a document or Excel sheet. Just clicking on the page will call up the Command Tab with relevant tools for making changes.

8. Galleries is an innovation that is promoted as the ‘heart’ of the redesigned applications. In this the user will be able to see how his document will shape up. This will simplify the process of creating professionally layed out documents. 9. A system known as Live Preview is a brand new technology that will enable the user to view in a gallery the editing or changed formatting executed on a document.

10. Faster document authoring will be possible with incorporation of custom built layouts and slide libraries. Through SharePoint the user will also be able to store their personal slides and layouts in this function. The system is designed so that it can be accessed offline.

11. Rapid email and document searching will become feasible through the Fast Search technology in Vista (Longhorn).

12. Using new innovations in integrated technologies the system will support multiparty audio, video, as well as data collaboration.

The system is designed to run on Windows XP Service Pack 2, or Longhorn client, or updated versions of windows with at least an SQL server 2000. Office 12 will support x64 platforms but it is not certain whether the support will be shipped with Office 12 or separately.

The very purpose of Office 12 according to Microsoft is to make life easy for users with better presentation, organization, and capabilities.

February 8th, 2009 How Web Analytics Helped Find A Million Dollar Hole

I’m often asked how we go about using web analytics to really pinpoint problems that make the tools worth the investment. Many people are dubious when asked to fork out 50,000 a year to have reports about how people visit their website. What I’m about to describe is a situation where one of our clients could potentially earn $1 Million per year because of the analytics tool they have installed. This article will describe how we used a key performance indicator to raise the problem and then go onto describe how we then found out what the issue was on the clients website.

The Key Performance Indicator or KPI

Ahh the KPI! It’s the latest buzzword flying around in the industry. What key measurements to use is an important point, but much more important is how you use them. One KPI I have written about before is page views per visit. Page views per visit is a KPI I always use regardless of the site goal. The reason being it’s what I refer to as a tripwire metric. Like a tripwire it gives you a warning when something is not right. The way you should use this KPI is to first find out how many pages it takes to complete the desired action. In this case the desired action (a purchase) took 7 pages. Then consider what a good browsing experience might be from your point of view. In this case we figured if the visitor viewed 5-7 pages and then completed a purchase (another 7 pages) it would be a good visit from the businesses point of view. It means that the visitor finds out that more is on offer than simply the product they were looking for. Then we add another 7 pages on top of this to flag a too many pages warning. So we have a bottom limit of 7 pages, a happy medium of 14 pages and a top limit of 21 pages.

Why is too high a warning?

When an average visit to the website is more than 14 pages in our view it means one of two things, either the visitor is extremely happy with the website and is browsing around or the visitor is extremely frustrated and can’t find what they want. A good experience from any visitors point of view on an e-commerce website is that they find what they want very quickly and in this case we figured that should mean browsing less than 21 pages on average. What we found shows why this metric is important. The KPI went off the scale showing that on average a visitor viewed 22 pages per visit.

The next job was to figure out whether this was a good thing or a bad thing. If an average visit took 22 pages it meant that either the visitor was happily browsing around and our client should be very happy, or it meant that there was a problem and if so we needed to find out where.

Good or Bad? Happy or Sad?

The KPI had raised the warning signal so we now needed to find out which visitors this KPI applied to. In HBX (and many other tools) it’s possible to segment the visitors into groups of people that follow the same behavior patterns. We wanted to know if the visitors were flicking through pages very quickly (a sign that they were unhappy) or if indeed they were traversing a great many pages each and spending a normal amount of time on the site (a sign that they were happy).

Therefore we segmented the visitors into only those that spent less than 2 minutes on the site and those that visited the shopping cart. This would enable us to see if the page views per visit of those visitors only on the site for a short period of time were racking up lots of page views or whether it was those that hit the cart that had trouble finding what they wanted.

Less than 2 minutes showed normal behavior. The people that spent less than 2 minutes on the website generally browsed 2 or 3 pages per visit. The people that hit the shopping cart again went off the scale but this time it was even more problematic. The average page views per session was 58 pages. We’d found the people who were having problems.

58 page views per visit?

Since we’d found the visitors who were having the problems we now needed to know what they were doing. How on earth could people be going through 58 page views on average each? It seemed unlikely – we even asked the developer to check that the tracking code was correctly installed. However when we checked the path analysis the problem on the website became crystal clear.

One visitor had traversed 97 pages. We looked through his visit path and noticed that the path kept referring to one page – a search results error page. We checked other individual visits and noticed the same key trend – the search results error page.

This lead us to check the failed searches on the website. When we totaled them up there were over 2000 failed keyword searches and the big majority were product codes. The sites internal search engine simply couldn’t read a letter and number combination and most of the product codes consist of numbers and letters. We’d found the problem.

The solution therefore is to fix the search engine. This one fix is a potentially huge find. There were over 1000 people that keyed in those failed keywords and didn’t complete the purchase. Our customer brings in over $160,000 per month in online revenue from a little over 1700 people that did complete a purchase. That means by doing a little mathematics it’s easy to work out the potential. It’s well over $1 million a year in lost revenue.

Summary

It’s easy to worry about the cost of a web analytics system. They are expensive and with everything that most businesses have going on they aren’t easy to get the most from. What you really need is an in house expert looking at the systems to pin point the problems or outsourcing to a consultancy to get the most from the systems. However to not use web analytics is like throwing away money – a frustrating and expensive waste of time.

February 6th, 2009 The Euro Lottery, Naught Comes Close to it!

The Euro Lottery is a fantastic way to play the lottery. You can either combine it as loads of folks do and play it alongside the UK lottery or even devote yourself to only playing this lottery by yourself and can potentially win just as much, if not even more! If you are like a growing number of people and you decide to come on board and begin playing it every week you will clearly be making a wise decision as I am about to make clear; As you will have maybe thought from the name – European Lottery is played in the European union, it takes place once a week on a Friday and one of the fantastic plus points about playing it is that it is not limited to the occupants of simply one specific country! No, the European lottery gathers the stakes of the 9 lands that are currently active.

There has been lots of Euro Millions participants who have won a small fortune merely by matching the 5 important draw numbers and just 1 “Lucky-Star”. The prospects of reaching this are 1 in over 5 million as apposed to 1 in 76,275,360 for winning the crowning jack-pot. But in these instances once in a while the jackpot has rolled-over for weeks at a time and thus is sure-fire to pay out even if nobody acquires the top prize. You can also increase your chance by merely purchasing more and more lottery tickets.

February 4th, 2009 Zero Down Payment Mortgage – Can It Be Done?

“I’ve been renting for years now; I’ve always paid my rent on time. I’ll start a savings account soon, so I can buy a house”: sound familiar? How much is in that savings account now? Just as I thought, not enough, you went on vacation, found a car you had to have, or WOW; look at the flat panel T.V. on the wall that you’re renting, etc, etc. There’s a secret that your landlord doesn’t want you to know; you can buy a house with zero down payment. Do you want to know how? Hang on, here we go. Hire a good mortgage professional, it’s that easy. Do you want to know more? Of course you do, here are some mortgage programs to help you.

Many companies will do a 100% one loan. This program can be done as a conforming, (good credit, full income documentation; prove income through W-2’s and recent pay stubs) or sub prime (those borrowers that don’t quite fit into conforming guidelines due to less than perfect credit or trouble verifying income).

There is an 80/20 combo home loan too if you don’t mind paying 2 monthly payments to pay your mortgage. The advantage to this is you don’t have to carry mortgage insurance on your first mortgage as your loan to value is 80%, that’s the cut off for carrying mortgage insurance. That usually means a savings of $40.00 to $90.00 per month over a 100% one loan, however the 80/20 combo home loan is a bit more difficult to qualify for.

The best option, if you’re non-military, is a FHA mortgage loan. This is a mortgage that’s backed by the government so there’s less risk to the lender. Now a FHA mortgage loan requires a 3% down payment, but that can be gifted through a down payment assistance program that the seller participates in. The great thing about a FHA loan is the interest rates are low and usually the seller of the home will pay most of your closing cost. Therefore you’re buying the house with zero or very little out of pocket expense.

If you’re in the military or a veteran of the military have your mortgage professional check your eligibility to use the VA (Dept. of Veteran Affairs) to back your mortgage. The VA requires zero down payment at a low mortgage interest rate, and your seller will generally pay the majority of your closing cost. Again, you’re buying the house with very little or no out of pocket expense.

These are the most popular programs for a zero down payment mortgage. You don’t have to have perfect credit or a ton of money to buy a home. Just prove you’re responsible, have the ability to pay for your home, and the willingness to pay for your home. The mortgage professional you hire should have a list of real estate professionals to help you in your search for a new home, always use a Realtor to help you, it will make your life much easier, and the seller pays their commission from the sale. Good luck house hunting and finding the perfect mortgage program for you.
